New Year, New Hope
As we begin a new year, we have made many new decisions that involved our adoption agency. After waiting 18 months and only being shown to around 20 birth families we have chosen to move to a new agency. We have been frustrated and have struggled with our past agency for the majority of the time we have been with them. We didn't do any research or ask our agency any questions in the beginning because we used them to adopt T and loved them! We never thought we would struggle with them. While we have been in constant contact with our past agency about our concerns and frustrations they have done nothing to change or help us feel that this was the agency we should stay and adopt through.
We along with our families, have been in prayer asking God to open and close doors as needed. During some of the communication with our past agency God made it clear that it was time to move on. We applied to our new, current agency and were accepted. They were searching for families that were open to race and gender because they had matched & placed so many families they didn't have enough adoptive families to show to the birth families. While being in communication with the new agency we felt a peace and felt God leading us this direction. We are currently working on their paperwork and updating our home study through them.
This was not an easy decision, but we have a hope again that this is the direction we should be going. God has provided the finances and has opened the doors that our grants will also be available for our new agency. We don't know what God is going to do just yet as this is all still new. While we know there is no perfect agency, we know that God is sovereign and in control. We never expected to be waiting this long or changing agencies in the middle of our adoption journey.
God is working in us and through us through this journey. While we don't remember T's journey being this hard, we know it wasn't this long, but I am sure we had lots of hard times. God grew us through our last adoption journey and he is growing us again to trust his plan. We continue to struggle as we want this to happen faster than it is because we know God has placed the desire in our hearts to have another child.
